The Women’s Pro Baseball League officially opened its first professional tryouts in over 80 years today at the Nationals Youth Baseball Academy in Washington, D.C. Hundreds of the world’s top female baseball players take the field this morning, marking the start of a four-day showcase that will determine who advances to the inaugural WPBL Draft this fall.
Headlined by superstars Mo’ne Davis and Kelsie Whitmore, the tryouts feature elite talent from across the U.S. and abroad, including players from Japan, Australia, Canada, Mexico, Korea, and the U.K. Athletes will compete through drills, performance testing, and evaluations over the weekend, leading up to live game action at Nationals Park on Monday, August 25, where final cuts will be made.
“This is the moment we’ve been waiting for,” said WPBL Co-Founder Dr. Justine Siegal. “You’ll see some of the best players in the world showing off their skills and passion—it’s where dreams come true.”
Fans can attend Monday’s games at Nationals Park and witness history in the making.
