Robin Roberts Stadium Selected as Home for 2026 Season

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. — The Women’s Pro Baseball League has announced that Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield will serve as the official venue for the league’s inaugural 2026 season.

The historic 5,200-seat ballpark, which opened in 1925 and recently received major upgrades including a new LED video board, offers a central location between the WPBL’s four founding teams in Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, and Boston.

“When we committed to a neutral site for 2026, Robin Roberts Stadium stood out immediately,” said WPBL co-founder Keith Stein. “It provides a first-rate environment and the exclusivity we want for our players.”

The league is partnering with Golden Rule Entertainment, which will oversee all baseball operations next season. Golden Rule will also launch and manage the WPBL Developmental League in 2027, establishing a long-term pathway for emerging players.

“Hosting the world’s best female players is a proud moment for Springfield,” said Golden Rule founder Jamie Toole.

Springfield’s deep baseball history—including one of the earliest paid women’s games in 1875—adds resonance to the league’s decision. The 2026 season begins August 1, following the Women’s Baseball World Cup in nearby Rockford.
