The 2026 WPBL Inaugural Season will take place at Robin Roberts Stadium in Springfield, Illinois—a location deeply connected to the history of professional women’s baseball, with one of the first-ever pro women’s baseball games being played in Springfield in 1875.
On the WPBL’s Opening Day, Los Angeles and New York will have the honor of playing the league’s first-ever game at 5:00 PM on August 1st.
The matchup will see a New York roster full of elite talent like Kylee Lahners, Denae Benites, Rakyung Kim, Val Perez and Jaida Lee face off against LA’s stacked lineup, featuring legendary pitcher Ayami Sato and Banana Ball star Ashton Lansdell, as well as Mo’ne Davis—who will make her return to baseball after first getting the world’s attention in 2014 after pitching a shutout in the Little League World Series.
Over the course of the WPBL’s inaugural season, each team will play 15 games, with the regular season standings determining the matchups for the league’s first-ever playoffs. The playoffs will begin on September 9th and will see each matchup play a three game series to fight for a spot in the inaugural WPBL Championship, with the winners of that 5-game series becoming the first-ever WPBL Champions.
