Celebrating National Girls & Women in Sports Day

League

This past weekend, WPBL Players London Studer (New York) and Olivia Bricker (Boston) were on the scene in Cincinnati, Ohio, coaching a girls baseball camp in honor of National Girls & Women in Sports Day.

The two elite players led the charge at the event, coaching 20+ girls from the Cincinnati area, all with dreams of becoming pro baseball players one day.

“Today was so much fun,” said Bricker. “Working with these girls today, they take everything in and they ask questions. They want to learn and I’m super excited for their futures.”

“The girls that are here today represent new trailblazers who are up and coming,” added Studer, “these girls are going to set the stage for the girls who come behind them.”

The event took place at Cincinnati’s Champions Baseball Academy and was co-hosted by the WPBL, Baseball for All, and the Miami Valley Valkyries. Scott Seeker, pro pitcher for the Frontier League’s Brockton Rox, and Cameron Madden, former collegiate pitcher and Miami Valley Valkyries coach were also at the event in support.

About the WPBL and the future of women’s baseball, Madden put it best: “The movement is here, the movement is now.”
